IT’S that dreaded time of year when smug couples come out of the woodwork and embarrassing public displays of affection become the norm.
Yep, it’s Valentine’s Day next week, which is sure to strike fear into the hearts of anyone who hates all that mushy lovey-dovey stuff.
Whilst I’m not a fan of it myself, this year I used the occasion as an excuse to check out some of the priciest jewellery in Leeds (for a story, of course).
Having zero knowledge about the subject, I visited the rather swanky ROX store at Trinity Leeds to learn all about diamonds and engagement rings for a feature on choosing the perfect sparkler.
I definitely got a bit giddy trying on the £17,000 ring, but fun aside, to my surprise there’s actually a lot more to take into consideration than just how sparkly it is.
There’s diamond clarity, shape, colour and size to think about, let alone its certification.
I really don’t envy guys and girls who are facing those kinds of decisions on their own, so hopefully my story will help you figure it all out.
Check out the special feature in Monday’s Yorkshire Evening Post.
