YOU MAY have noticed some fancy banners across the city centre championing ‘Leeds Food Month’.
If you’re wondering what it is, don’t worry – it’s kind of snuck up on us too.
To put it simply, Leeds Food Month means loads of foodie-based treats and events taking place across the city from May 7 to June 7.
It’s an umbrella term marking the arrival of both the Leeds Indie Food Festival (from May 7 to May 24) and the 10th Leeds Food and Drink Festival (from May 22 to June 7).
It’s got sponsorship from Asda too (hence the fancy banners, I imagine).
Even Masterchef host Gregg Wallace has visited Leeds to record a film and find out what the fuss is all about.
He visited Trinity Kitchen, Sukhothai and Leeds Bread Co-operative and Northern Monk Brewery, and said: “I’d heard great things about the food and drink scene in Leeds and I’m really impressed with everything I’ve tried – but even more so with the passion of the people.”
It’s great to see the city making a song and dance about what we have on offer and flying the culinary flag.
Let’s hope there are many more Leeds Food Months to come.
