The winner of the 4th annual Northern Art Prize was tonight announced as Haroon Mirza.
Four artists from across the north of England battled it out to be named the winner of the Leeds-based award and claim the 16,5000 first prize.
The other three artists Alec Finlay, Lubaina Himid and David Jacques all collected 1,500 runners up prizes.
You can still see an exhibition of all their works at Leeds City Art Gallery which runs until February 6.
This year's judging panel was BBC broadcaster and Guardian journalist Mark Lawson, American artist Susan Hiller, the British Council's director of visual arts Andrea Rose, and art collector Richard Greer along with Leeds City Art Gallery's exhibitions curator Sarah Brown.
For the first time the whole event was filmed by Sky TV to be broadcast on the satellite channel's Sky Arts HD programme.
The prize was set up by Leeds firm Logistik and Leeds City Council in 2007.
Arup and Leeds Metropolitan University are now major sponsors and Mint Hotel, formerly the City Inn Hotel, is also a partner along with Welcome to Yorkshire.
