Newly crowned Miss Leeds and keen fundraiser determined to bring Miss Great Britain title 'home'

The newly crowned Miss Leeds is doing everything in her power to bring the Miss Great Britain title to the city.

Emily Austin, 20, will head to the Miss Great Britain finals in Leicester later this year after after securing her Leeds crown on Wednesday, July 18 when she was selected from over 100 entries.

The Broadcast Journalism student, who is originally from North Allerton, has lived in Leeds for around a year and studies at Leeds Trinity University.

And after landing the Miss Leeds crown earlier in the week Emily, who has so far raised around £3,000 for various charities, wants to go one strep further in Leicester in September.

She said: "I really want to bring the crown of Miss Great Britain home for Leeds.

"I feel really confident that I can bring home the Miss Great Britain."

Emily knows all about how to win a pageant.

She tasted her first success when she entered her first one back in 2016.

But for Emily, who is sponsored by Flawless Photography Studio, the competition is much more than just a beauty pageant, with charity work, competition and camaraderie all providing a big part of the experience.

She added: "I've raised a lot of money for charity and I really enjoy that side of it. I am really excited and motivated to raise more cash.

"A big group of girls come together and it has a community feel to it.

"Miss Great Britain isn’t just a beauty competition its about charity and personality and brains.

"I’ve got really supportive parents and a supportive boyfriend that travel all over with me to do appearances and raise money."

The final takes place in Leicester on September 2014
