A new trial date has been set for two men charged with murdering Tcherno Ly in Chapeltown.

Mr Ly , 21, from Hunslet, died shortly before 10pm on Sunday August 25 2019 during the Leeds West Indian Carnival weekend.

Hussein Semusu, aged 20, of Grange Avenue, Chapeltown, and 19-year-old Beni Nami, of no fixed abode, have both been charged with Mr Ly's murder.

They have also been charged with possession of an offensive weapon.

The trial was due to start yesterday, (June 15) but has had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A new trial date has now been set for November 23.

Semusu and Nami appeared via video link from HMP Doncaster during yesterday's brief court hearing.

Judge Geoffrey Marson QC told both men they will remain in custody.
