new residents-only parking permits have been brought in near Morley Academy.

The stretch of Baker Street in Morley has the new restrictions after claims of “indiscriminate parking” by motorists linked to the school and to nearby businesses.

A council report confirming the changes says: “The purpose of these proposals is to discourage non-resident parking associated with local businesses and Morley Academy. It is hoped that this will significantly improve parking opportunities for residents”.

The officer’s report adds the aim is “to provide some parking opportunity for the residents of the western section of Baker Street as this was suffering from indiscriminate parking associated with the Mill, gymnasium and Morley Academy”.
