A BRAND new bar has opened its doors in Leeds – underneath a popular burger restaurant.

American-themed eatery Almost Famous took over the former Escobar site on Great George Street back in August.

But it was just last week that the venue finally opened its new downstairs bar, which is called 314 in Progress.

The bar, which takes its name from the Californian police code for indecent exposure, will serve up a mix of drinks including American-themed cocktails.

The restaurant hit the headlines when it opened earlier this year over its designs in the ladies’ toilets, which featured questions such as “Why can’t I be thinner?” and “I need a nose job”.

The walls were re-decorated and painted over.

Almost Famous’ Leeds site is the fourth for the company, which also has restaurants in Manchester and Liverpool.
