FORMER Leeds United manager Jimmy Armfield has revealed he is battling cancer for the second time.
The 81-year-old, who managed Leeds from 1974 to 1978 and guided the Whites to the 1975 European Cup final, is about to complete a course of daily radiotherapy.
Armfield previously received successful treatment for Non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 2007.
He has not given precise details about his latest illness but remains positive about the outcome.
The BBC radio summariser, who won 43 caps as a player for England, said: “I finish the treatment this weekend and the consultant who I am seeing again seems confident. I have had these health issues since the beginning of September but I am better now than I have been for over a month.
“It is amazing how quickly medicine has moved on and I am thankful for that.”
