The centre, in Paragon Business Park, was officially opened by Wakefield Trinity rugby league stars on Monday.

Paragon has also linked up with the club by providing a year-long sponsorship deal. The facility, which is part of Calder Vets, is being led by MD Ian Monteith and clinical director Adam Bell.

Mr Bell said: “The opening of Paragon is the culmination of an 18-month project to bring the very best quality referral veterinary centre here to Wakefield. We’re delighted to open our doors and the team here at Paragon Veterinary Referrals are totally committed to, and looking forward to, providing excellent care for patients using the latest veterinary techniques.”

Mr Monteith added: “We’ll be employing dozens of people, largely living locally, as well as dealing with possibly hundreds of referring vets across the north of England, so we wanted to connect with the community straight away.

“Our sponsorship of Wakefield Trinity seemed a natural route to take given the affinity for rugby league across Yorkshire and we were absolutely delighted the players were able to take time out of their training week to help us celebrate the opening of Paragon.”
