A south Leeds school has been ranked in the top 10 per cent nationally for transforming the fortunes of its pupils.

Cockburn School, in Gipsy Lane, Beeston, has qualified for a Schools, Students and Teachers Network Educational Outcomes Award for the progress of its pupils between their Key Stage Two primary school tests and high school GCSEs.

The school will receive its award at a celebration at Dixons Allerton Academy, in Bradford, on May 11.

Dave Gurney, Cockburn headteacher, said: “This really is testament to the outstanding work of all our staff and their commitment.”
