National cake week - which is your favourite?

Have your say

This week is the week of cake - but which are your favourites?

In honour of National Cake Week this week, and the final of this year’s Great British Bake Off - featuring Leeds’ own Nadiya Hussain, we want to know which cakes you think are the tastiest.

According to the Clandestine Cake Club, which has branches in Leeds, National Cake Week is “all about baking a cake and getting together with family and friends. No competition, no judging, just having fun, eating and sharing cake.

“Pick a day during National Cake Week to have your gathering. Invite people to bake a cake and bring it along to your party.

“Share in the joy of creating something so nice and homemade as the humble cake.”

For last year’s National Cake Week, the ‘cakexperts’ at Mr Kipling surveyed 2,000 adults for their favourite cake, and the final 10 were:

1. Chocolate cake

2. Victoria sponge

3. Lemon drizzle

4. Carrot cake

5. Cherry Bakewell

6. Coffee cake

7. Christmas cake

8. Battenberg

9. Angel slices

10. Madeira
