Music and dance at festival

MORRIS dancers from across the country took part in the fourth annual Ossett Beercart Festival to support Wakefield Hospice.

Crowds gathered in the centre of Ossett at the weekend to witness morris dancers haul a cart filled with beer on a two-and-a-half-mile route around Ossett to the town hall.

More than 100 dancers and musicians took part in the Beercrat procession, which was organised by Wakefield Morris Dancers.

Sarah Haigh, chair of Ossett Beercart Festival, said “We are absolutely delighted with the success of this year’s event. We have a group of very committed people and supporters who make the Beercart happen. This year the Ossett community has really embraced the Beercart and it has become an established part of the Ossett calendar.”
