As much use as a chocolate teapot: Yorkshire Tea '˜collectables' are recalled

A SERIES of teapots and other ceramic 'collectables' advertising Yorkshire Tea are being recalled after complaints that the bases of some of them cracked or broke during use.

The ceramics were sold by Amazon and some independent retailers from November 2015.

The items affected are the Yorkshire Tea 1-litre Teapot, Teapot for One, Big Tea Mug and milk jug.

The brand’s owners, Taylor’s of Harrogate, said: “When teapots from the same batch were tested against the relevant British safety standard they did not crack. However, more extensive testing revealed the potential for fracture or breakages during normal use.

“Therefore, in the interests of our customers’ safety, we’ve taken the decision to implement a recall of all the ceramics made by the same manufacturer.”

The company has asked owners of the affected products to call 0800 328 1886 or email collectables@yorkshiretea.co.uk to arrange a refund.

A statement said: “We would like to sincerely apologise any inconvenience this may cause.”
