His unrivalled acting CV includes parts in classic films such as The Godfather, Scarface and Scent of a Woman.
Now movie legend Al Pacino is set to take on another memorable role – as a VIP visitor to Leeds United’s Elland Road ground.
Pacino was today confirmed as the star guest for an event being held at Elland Road’s Centenary Pavilion on Saturday April 18 next year.
The black tie dinner will feature an interview with Pacino that will be conducted by another, as-yet-unspecified famous name.
There will also be the chance for audience members to put questions to the 74-year-old actor.
The evening is being organised by Olexyfresh Promotions, the company responsible for this month’s successful appearance at the Centenary Pavilion by another cinema superstar in the shape of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Stephen Oleksewycz, managing director of Olexyfresh Promotions, said: “Al Pacino is the godfather of American movies and to be bringing him to Leeds for movie fans is a fantastic way to follow the Arnold event which was amazing.
“Leeds did us proud and we know that, as well as local fans, people travelled from all over the world to the event.
“We wanted to bring another legend to the venue as a thank you and feel that announcing Al Pacino is a phenomenal way to end what has been an amazing year.”
Pacino made his screen debut in The Panic in Needle Park in 1971 before hitting the global big time a year later with The Godfather.
For the next six years Pacino churned out a succession of critically-acclaimed and commercially successful movies.
He dropped out of films in the mid-1980s to concentrate on plays after the disastrous epic Revolution but returned after a four-year break with Sea of Love in 1989.
Subsequent movie hits have included Glengarry Glen Ross, Carlito’s Way, Heat, The Insider and Any Given Sunday.
Tickets for April’s An Evening with Pacino event will go on general sale at 10am on December 3 priced from £150.
They will be available to buy from the www.olexyfresh.com website.
