Morley Arts Festival 2016 continues with more music, speech and performances

The festival hosts many workshops and today (Wednesday) will see celebrated artist Ashley Jackson return to the festival for an evening of conversation, followed by a hearty pie and pea supper.

Ashley will be discussing his love affair with Yorkshire whilst capturing it in front of the audience’s eyes, on canvas.

Jackson is described as the ‘Turner of the 21st Century’ due to his passionate portrayal of the Yorkshire moors.

Renowned writer Ian Clayton will be delivering a writing workshop on Saturday, October 1 for writers wishing to develop their skills, of all levels.

Ian will explore how to turn spoken word in to a piece of written work.

Ian Clayton will then read excerpts from his work and be in conversation about his life with celebrated poet, lyricist and performance artist Heath Common on Saturday evening.

Sunday (October 2) presents an opportunity for festival goers to sit back and relax as Dr Annie Gray discusses the history of chocolate, followed by Afternoon Tea in the surroundings of the Banqueting Rooms at Morley Town Hall, served by Morley WI.

The second week kicks off next Monday (October 3) when the festival welcomes Alison Weir.

Weir, the biggest-selling female historian in the UK, will be discussing her new book Katherine of Aragon: The True Queen.

She will follow this up with a question and answer session.
