Leeds is set for a Christmas jobs bonanza with more than 1,600 seasonal job vacancies up for grabs across the city.

Royal Mail is leading the way with 671 extra recruits being taken on at the city’s two sorting centres for letters and parcels to help make sure our cards and presents get there on time.
With many of us starting Christmas shopping in the next few weeks, the Trinity centre has 550 vacancies across its 120 shops and restaurants and The White Rose is taking on 250 extra people.
Meanwhile Marks and Spencer needs 88 more people across its Leeds stores in the clothing, home and food departments to help with its Christmas campaign.
As John Lewis in Victoria Gate prepares for its second festive campaign in the city it is taking on 42 seasonal workers.
Branches of Morrisons supermarkets are encouraging job hunters to ask in local stores about the roles that are available. With a refurbishment completed just in time for the office Christmas party season, Slug and Lettuce also need more staff. Dan Wharton, marketing manager at Trinity Leeds, said: “Christmas is the busiest time of year for us at Trinity Leeds – thousands of shoppers and visitors descend on the centre.
“To meet the demand, many of our retailers, bars and restaurants take on additional staff, so extra jobs will be available at Christmas.
“It’s always exciting working at Trinity at this time of year. The atmosphere is electric and there’s an air of excitement.”
