They broke through a panel in the kitchen door at the back of the house on Falcon Road, Dewsbury, at around 9.10pm last night.

The robbers, wearing hooded tops and balaclavas, awoke the husband and wife, both thought to be in their fifties.

They threatened the couple and demanded cash.

Police are hunting three or four male suspects, who are described as being white and of medium build and average height. They spoke with local accents.

Detective Inspector George Bardell of Kirklees CID said: “This was a terrifying attack on the householders.

“We would urge anyone who has any information about the offenders to come forward.
