A 57-year-old woman was robbed at knifepoint after a masked gang forced their way into her home.

Police are appealing for information after the incident at Forge Lane, Wike, on Thursday, May 29.

Three men wearing dark clothing and facial coverings pushed past the woman as she opened the door at around 10.45pm.

She was restrained at knifepoint and the gang made demands for items of jewellery and the keys to a white Audi TT parked on the driveway.

They stole the vehicle, leaving the woman restrained in the property.

The Audi was later found locked and unattended in Shadwell.

Detective constable Dean Hopley, of Leeds District CID, said: “I would stress that incidents of this nature are extremely rare.

“Thankfully the victim wasn’t physically harmed but it is important that the persons responsible are caught as quickly as possible.

“As part of our ongoing enquiries, we are keen to hear from anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area around the time of this offence or who saw a white Audi TT being driven away.

“It is believed that the offenders may have also been using a black Seat Leon and we would also urge anyone who believes they saw this vehicle, particularly in convoy with a white Audi TT, to make contact.

“Any information, no matter how small it may seem, should be passed to Leeds District CID on 101 or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
