Man who died in Boxing Day crash on Leeds ring road ‘fell ill at wheel’ UPDATED

A man who died in a crash in Leeds on Boxing Day is thought to have fallen ill at the wheel.

The 58-year-old, who has not been named, was involved in a collision on the Outer Ring Road at Moortown.

He was driving a Rover 25 car which hit a BMW 520 estate around 200 metres west of the junction with Roundhay Park Lane at about 5.50pm.

But it is thought he may have suffered a heart attack moments earlier, causing him to lose control of his car.

He was pronounced dead on arrival at Leeds General Infirmary.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle in the moments leading up to the crash is asked to contact the Major Collision Enquiry Team via 101.
