Man’s body found in river

THE BODY of a man has been found in the River Foss in York.

The identity is yet to be confirmed but police have said the family of missing Leeds man, Ben Clarkson, have been informed.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The body of a man has been found in the River Foss in York at Foss Bank near to the entrance to Sainsbury’s.

“The body was discovered at around 5pm on Friday, March 21.

“Formal identification has not yet been completed, therefore we cannot confirm the identity of the deceased at this stage.

“The family of Ben Clarkson have been informed of the discovery.”

Ben, 22, went missing around three weeks ago after a night out in York and was last seen outside Fibbers in Stonebow at around 3.30am on Sunday, March 2.

He is originally from the Halton Moor area of Leeds and is a former Temple Moor High School pupil.
