Man rescued from River Aire in Leeds city centre

FIRE CREWS rescued a man from the River Aire at Crown Point Bridge in Leeds city centre this morning.

A member of the public who had spotted a man in the river near Crown Point Road alerted police just before 6am today.

Fire engines from Leeds, Hunslet, Rothwell and Wakefield along with police and paramedics went to the scene.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “A 36-year-old man from the Leeds are was removed from the water. He was checked over and found to have no injuries.”
