Man rescued from river in Leeds

A man has been rescued from a river near Leeds city centre today.

Emergency services rushed to the scene off Whitehall Road after being called at 5.18pm today.

A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "Emergency services attended and found a male in the river.

"He was rescued from the river shortly after."

A police van and ambulances were sent out to the incident.
