Man hurt in one of two knifepoint robberies in Pontefract

POLICE are appealing for information after a man was injured during one of two knifepoint robberies in Pontefract at the weekend.

A 54-year-old man was confronted by a knife-wielding thug who demanded cash at around 10pm on Saturday in the Valley Gardens off Friarwood Lane.

The victim suffered a cut to his left hand while trying to grab the robber, who escaped with a small amount of cash.

The suspect is described as a 30 to 40-year-old unshaven white man with short cropped hair. He was wearing a white Umbro tracksuit top and had a tattoo on his right hand.

A woman was robbed of her handbag after being threatened at knifepoint in a car park on Halfpenny Lane in Pontefract at around about 7.20am on Sunday.

The suspect is described as a white man in his late twenties or thirties with a scruffy ginger beard. He was wearing a black hat and a waterproof jacket.
