A road rage incident near the Ikea retail park in Leeds led to a man being hit by a car.
The 24-year-old, who was driving a grey Ford Fusion car, was involved in an altercation with another driver after what police described as a “traffic dispute” in Gelderd Road near Birstall Retail Park on Thursday afternoon.
The pair had a fight before the 24-year-old was injured by the other man’s car – a silver Ford Focus – as he drove away. He is currently being treated in hospital.
The Focus driver was described as being olive-skinned, of average build with a big nose, black hair which was short on the sides and longer on top. He was wearing a black body warmer and jeans. He also had a foreign accent and spoke in broken English.
Detective Inspector Stef Wiseman, of Kirklees CID, said: “We are keen to trace the other driver, who we believe may have been injured during the fight, to speak to him about the circumstances of the incident. We are appealing directly to him to contact us at the earliest opportunity.
“This incident took place on a busy arterial route at a time of day when there will have been a number of people in the area. I would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information that could assist the investigation to contact us immediately.”
Anyone with information should contact Det Con Oliver Scoones at Kirklees CID via 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
