A court heard Marc Zeeman was holding an empty pint glass when he lashed out at the victim during the incident outside Revolution, on Call Lane.

Leeds Crown Court heard the assault happened on January 22 last year after Zeeman had been in the bar and entered an area where a private party was being held.

Zeeman spoke to two men who were work colleagues.

They told him he was in a private area but Zeeman continued to behave as if he was "entitled" to be there.

The defendant then followed the group out when they left the bar.

Zeeman was involved in a verbal altercation with one of the men.

The victim stood between the two men in a bid to "diffuse" the situation.

The court heard Zeeman then lunged at him while holding a pint glass in his hand.

The glass broke on impact with the man's head and caused a cut.

He needed treatment to have the wound cleaned but was not seriously injured.

Zeeman then left the area but was seen queuing to get into a bar nearby and was detained by door staff.

Zeeman, 26, of Butterbowl Drive, Farnley, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Craig Sutcliffe, mitigating, said Zeeman had been receiving support to address his mental health and offending behaviour in the year since the offence.

Mr Sutcliffe said his client was sorry for what he had done and had stopped drinking.

Zeeman was given a 15-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.

He was ordered to pay the victim £100 and made the subject of a curfew order for four months, between the hours of 7pm and 7am.
