Man dies in Scarborough crash as people who stopped to help told to self-isolate

People who stopped at the scene of a fatal crash in Scarborough this morning have been told to self-isolate.

The crash happened at the junction of College Lane and Filey Road at about 11.45am on Sunday (January 31).

The driver of a car involved in the crash was taken to hospital, where he later died.

North Yorkshire Police thanked members of the public who stopped at the scene to help - but anyone who stopped must now isolate.

A police spokesperson said: "Unfortunately, someone at the scene has coronavirus and so anyone who stopped will need to isolate immediately.

"Officers would also like to hear from anyone who saw what happened or has any information that could assist the investigation.

"Please call 101 or email the Major Collision Investigation Team at [email protected] quoting reference number 12210049306."
