Man arrested by police called to collision near Leeds Coach Station

A man has been arrested for being drunk and disorderly by police called out to a collision near Leeds Coach Staton this afternoon.

Officers were originally called to New York Street after reports of a man being knocked down by a car.

The 36-year-old pedestrian was said to have been in the road at the time of the collision.

He was checked over by paramedics and did not appear to have any injuries, but was being taken to hospital by a relative as a precaution.

Meanwhile, officers responding to the call arrested another man on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly.

A police spokesman said it was unclear at this stage whether he had any connection to the collision itself.

The arrested man was due to be taken into custody.
