Man arrested on suspicion of arson attack on Leeds house

A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire at a house in Leeds that is under renovation.

Crews from Hunslet and Leeds fire stations were called to Woodview Mount in Beeston at about 9.45pm last night (Sunday).

They forced their way in following concerns someone was inside, but there was no-one in the property.

Firefighters used six breathing apparatus and two hose reels to deal with the incident.

The fire caused significant damage to the basement and some to the ground floor.

A 24-year-old man is in custody.
