Man and woman rescued from water by firefighters in Wakefield

Firefighters rescued two people from water in Wakefield this evening.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said they were called to Chantry Bridge, over the River Calder, in Gallery Walk, Wakefield, at 6.50pm.

The spokesman said they rescued a woman and a man who had gone into the water to rescue her.

Fire crews from Wakefield, Normanton, Rothwell and Leeds attended the incident.
