Make some noise! First glimpse of Leeds's biggest karaoke booth

WHEN OK Karaoke closed its doors in Leeds, it left many wannabe singers in the lurch.

But it’s time to warm up those vocal chords as the man behind the venue is back – launching what he claims is the biggest karaoke booth in Leeds, with room for up to 50 people.

Karaoke Beats is opening next to Bird and Beast on Central Road, taking over the venue’s former bar area and function room.

Singers can hire the space – which comes complete with its own bartender, bar, DJ booth and ‘prop box’ – from just £4 per person and can have their pick of 3,500 songs, from Ella Henderson and Justin Bieber to Bon Jovi and Tom Jones.

Owner Steve Hawkins, who is also behind The Boundary House in Methley and has helped run Oracle and Townhouse in the past, and saw a gap in the market.

He said: “There are so many bars out there and to stand out, you have got to do something crazy and different.

“Everybody likes to think they can sing and enjoys a bit of a sing-song.

“We had 14,000 people sign up to a mailing list at OK Karaoke so there is definitely an appetite for it in Leeds.”
