A major Leeds road has been closed after a man was hit by a car.

UPDATED AT 5:30pm: Police have now confirmed Roundhay Road will be closed for 'several more hours'. The victim has serious injuries.

The accident happened just after 2.30pm today outside St Aidan's Church on Roundhay Road in Harehills.

The man is being treated at the scene and has a suspected leg fracture.

Police have now closed the road to enable emergency services to treat him.

Earlier today, a bus and a car collided outside the BP Gledhow petrol station on Roundhay Road. No injuries were reported and debris is being cleared from the road.

Several First bus services, including the 12, 13 and 13A, have been diverted.
