The LS postcode has made it on to The National Lottery’s rich list after the latest figures show 47 people have been made millionaires in the area since The National Lottery began – equating to more than two millionaires being made every single year.

And the postcode now ranks 26th out of the 121 postcodes across the country for making the most National Lottery millionaires during this period.

On top of this luck, an impressive 502 people have banked a major cash prize of £50,000 or more during this period – this equates to almost two winners being made every single month since The National Lottery began.

And to celebrate this achievement, a new lucky town sign has been unveiled at the Leeds Donkey Sanctuary which also considers itself to be very lucky.

The Centre in Eccup has 21 rescued donkeys giving these gentle animals a home free from suffering, neglect and abuse.

Local children with additional needs and disabilities visit the centre for donkey assisted interaction sessions.

Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor for The National Lottery, the man who pays out the big winners, said: “The Leeds postcode is certainly a very lucky area. There are now a massive 4,250 National Lottery millionaires across the country and with more than 6 new millionaires made every week there is likely to be another local winner made soon.”

Local winners who have shared news of their win recently include Susan Bradley, a grandmother from Leeds, who scooped almost £100,000 in March this year and Lewis Gill who won the top prize on the £100,000 Red Scratchcard from The National Lottery GameStore last year.
