Her publisher, HarperCollins, confirmed the news by tweeting: “It is with huge sadness that we can confirm the death of our much loved author and friend, Louise Rennison.

“In life, as in her writing, she brought joy and laughter” Brought up in a three-bedroomed council house with her parents, grandparents, aunt, uncle and cousin, she based several episodes in the Fab Confessions Of Georgia Nicolson books on her own childhood in Leeds, before moving to New Zealand with her parents at 15.
