One of the country’s favourite trendy celeb spotting restaurant brands is coming to Leeds next year.
Plans have been put forward which will see the famous London restaurant, The Ivy, opening one of its Brasserie chains in the Vicar Lane side of the Victoria Quarter.
The Brasserie brand is part of The Ivy Collection, which brings the familiar luxury of The Ivy with extensive all-day menus featuring the best of modern British dishes in a relaxed dining atmosphere.
Planning documents were submitted to the City Council earlier this month by developers Hammerson, which own the Victoria Estate and were behind the Victoria Gate shopping centre.
It seeks permission for a change of use, which will see three vacant retail units form the 195 cover restaurant similar to ones already open in cool spots Coven Garden, Soho, Kensington and Chelsea.
A spokesperson for The Ivy confirmed: “The Ivy Collection is in planning application for a site in Leeds for a possible 2018 opening, subject to planning approval the restaurant will feature an all-day dining menu and will be open seven days a week.
“The Ivy Collection is a group of restaurants, brasseries and cafes, established in London, offering accessible, all-day dining for locals and visitors alike.
“Each location is carefully handpicked to value, reflect and add to the local area.”
Hammerson has had pre-application discussions with the council’s planning officers who are understood to have expressed support for the proposals.
They will also include the retaining of original features, upgrading and re-organisation of internal floors and walls in the three storey grade II listed building.
