Lifetime achievement award for Leeds hospice gardener

THE FORMER head gardener at St Gemma’s Hospice in Moortown has been honoured with a lifetime achievement award.

Denis Hainsworth, 64, (pictured), who retired last month after 25 years’ service, won an Anne Norfolk Lifetime Achievement Award at the Hospice UK Awards ceremony held in Leeds on Tuesday night.

St Gemma’s director Tracy Dick, said: “ What is important to Denis is that he wants the grounds, every inch of them, to be inspiring and uplifting, and accessible and enjoyed by all, particularly patients.”
