the lord Mayor of Leeds has helped to officially open a new learning centre for children in the city.

Explore Learning, which provides English and maths tuition for youngsters aged between five and 14, has opened a new site at Crown Point Shopping Centre.

Courses will also be run to help boost creative writing skills, entrance exam preparation and advice about how children can make a successful transition to secondary school.

Coun Judith Chapman was given a guided tour around the centre as she officially opened the site .

Fawziyah Malik, centre director, said: “We are very excited about opening our latest centre in Leeds.”

Carey Ann Dodah, head of curriculum at Explore Learning, added: “Children of all abilities come to us for extra help in maths and English or to enjoy learning in a new social environment.”

NEWSUBSTANCE created SPIRIT, a structure that will house 3,000 LED lights, use 10km of coloured string, it is 5 metres above the concourse and overall span is 24m x 14m.
