LEGENDARY singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen is heading for the new Leeds concert arena.

Cohen will play the city’s First Direct Arena on Thursday, September 5.

The show will be part of the £60m venue’s official opening season.

Tickets go on sale at 9am this Friday. (May 31)

Bruce Springsteen will be the first person to perform at the 13,500-capacity venue when he hits its stage on July 24.

Artists appearing alongside Cohen during the arena’s opening season in September include Sir Elton John, Kaiser Chiefs and Andrea Bocelli

Depeche Mode, Stereophonics, Boyzone, Status Quo and JLS are among the other acts lined up to play there before the end of the year.

The city council-backed venue will also stage the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year show on December 15.
