Leeds village sparkles after Christmas lights switch-on

Christmas has arrived in Burley-in-Wharfedale with the village's the annual market, fair and lights switch-on.

Thousands flocked to Main Street and Grange Park for an evening of entertainment, food and gifts and to see the Christmas lights which were this year switched on by Jack Tordoff, founder of JCT 600 Motors and president of Bradford City Football Club.

Danny Schofield, market co-ordinator at Burley and District Chamber of Trade, which organised the event, said: “We had a great crowd here from early on, soaking up the lovely atmosphere. People came from all over, in time to enjoy the craft fair, market stalls, music and rides as well as the spectacular lights.”

Proceeds from the market go toward’s the village’s Christmas Lights Fund.
