Leeds village helps fundraisers go on the run for charity

PEOPLE in Methley have won thanks for their support for an annual fun run that raised thousands of pounds for charity.

Organised by Rothwell Harriers, the Canal Run started and finished in the village, on the eastern outskirts of Leeds.

Hundreds of people took part in the event, which featured a 5km route and a shorter 1.5 mile course for adults and children of all ages.

A total of £4,715 was raised for the Jane Tomlinson Appeal and will go towards the charity’s work helping children lead happier and healthier lives and supporting people suffering from cancer.

Jane Tomlinson Appeal fundraising manager Katie Bell said: “A big thank you to the Rothwell Harriers, and [event director] Jason Westmoreland in particular, who are incredible supporters of the Appeal. Thank you also to the village of Methley for hosting the event once more.”
