On the first anniversary of a mother abandoning a newborn baby in a Tesco Bag For Life outside a Leeds church a vicar has reached out on behalf of the local community

The Rev Paul Crabb said: “To the mother of baby Peter: The people of Bramley have not forgotten your baby or you.

“We still feel that you both belong to us, and, given the opportunity we would offer you the best care and support we can.

“We long for the time when we can lay your baby to rest.

“We remember you often in our thoughts, in our prayers and, sometimes, in our tears.”

A spokesman for Church of England Diocese of Leeds added: “The Anglican Diocese of Leeds will continue to offer support to the community and those affected by this sad situation.”

NEW ADDITIONS: More retail outlets are signing up to Wellington Place.
