Leeds United: Whites ask fans to arrive early for tonight's cup tie

The club are working to avoid delays at Elland Road’s ticket office following a big response to their decision to lower admission costs on the back of a small attendance for last month’s third-round win over Blackburn Rovers.

The tie against Blackburn pulled in fewer than 8,500 fans, Elland Road’s lowest crowd since 2009, but United dropped prices for this evening’s meeting with Norwich to as little as £10 for adults and £2.50 for Under-11s.

An away following of close to 2,000 from Norwich will bolster tonight’s attendance and Leeds chief executive Ben Mansford said he was pleased with the response to United’s initiative.

Leeds go into the game on the back of a 1-0 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday and are bidding to reach the League Cup quarter-finals for the first time in four years.

“We appreciate that a gate of 20,000-plus is fairly standard for a big club like Leeds United but we’ve seen a lot of sales since Saturday’s win at Wolves and we have a large amount of tickets waiting to be collected from Elland Road today,” Mansford said. “Our message to fans is to come and collect your tickets early to avoid any queuing.

“We’re pleased with the sales for the fixture considering the lower attendance we had at the Blackburn tie in the last round. The ticket prices are slightly more affordable for tonight and we also feel an excitement around the club at the moment. It seems the supporters are enjoying the way we are competing in every game and this is giving everyone a big lift.”
