Leeds United fan nets thousands in football prediction contest

LEEDS United fan David Peatfield has won a share of the first prize in free to play national football prediction competition Super 6.

Players must predict the score of six selected matches, with a £250,000 cash prize on offer each week for landing the jackpot.

A late goal from an unlikely source at the weekend secured Super 6 glory for the data operator from Crossgates – along with 28 other players who also predicted all six scores correctly.

With seconds remaining in the latest round it appeared that the prize would not be won with Crystal Palace, trailing 1-0 against Bournemouth, largely to blame.

However, then came a stoppage-time header from Palace captain Scott Dann for a 1-1 draw which ensured that the £250,000 jackpot would be shared amongst a 29 players, each receiving £8,620.

Mr Peatfield, 22, who plans to put the money towards a house with his girlfriend said: “I didn’t want to believe I’d won until I got the call.

“It was only the third time I’ve played it so I thought I might have been reading it wrong.

“My girlfriend has just moved back home from university and we were looking at places to live together but struggling for money.

“This has given us exactly what we needed and should help us get on the property ladder.

“I plan to take the family out for a meal and possibly go on a festive trip to the Christmas markets somewhere in Europe too.” He added: “I encourage all my friends and work mates to play Super 6. It’s free and you can win real cash prizes.
