And a tiling student from Leeds College of Building is making his mark on the craze by having created ‘Night Vigilante’ entirely out of different coloured tiles.

Callum Pearson’s design will feature in the Pixel Pop range for national tile suppliers CTD and is a collection of fan art tile bundles for the biggest pop culture fans.

It took Callum less than four hours to set his masterpiece and now fans of pop art can recreate the look in their own homes with eight characters from superheroes to magical animals including Green Galactic Genius, Green Giant, Magical Baby Horse, Night Vigilante, Red Italian Plumber, Sir Superspeed, Space Soldier and Thunder Warrior.

Tracy Hildreth from CTD said: “Fan art has become increasingly popular over the years and we believe that everyone will enjoy our whimsical take on nostalgia.”

Leeds College of Building collaborated with CTD to offer students different trade experiences and this project also helped Callum with his entry into the recent UK National Final of the SkillBuild 2017 competition.

Tutor, Steve Roberts said: “We find working with companies a really valuable experience for both the college and its students.

“Some of our tutors starred in BBC’s ‘To Build or Not To Build’, a TV show which helped guide self builders through a wide range of construction related trades, a few years ago.

“By collaborating with CTD Tiles, it’s given Callum some hands-on experience to create a challenging design which really helped in the SkillBuild UK National final.”

Callum is an apprentice at family run D.Pearson Bathrooms & Kitchens.
