Leeds students evacuated after flats blaze

PART of a block of student flats in Leeds was evacuated due to a fire early today. (Wednesday)

The alarm was raised shortly after midnight and fire crews from Gipton in east Leeds went to the Unipol building, a 10-storey block of flats in Mill Street.

The fire was in a waste container on the seventh floor.

Students on the seventh floor and above were evacuated from the building.

No-one was injured.
