Ashleigh McHugh, 22, was selected to take part in All Together Now where she has to sing in front of a judging panel of 100 people – led by former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell. The judges rate the act if they want to sing-a-long too.

She will be singing Who’s Loving You by the Jackson Five after having an audition via Skype where she sang two songs before being invited to London for a further audition.

Miss McHugh from Wortley sang for 12 different judges before they picked her for the final cut and decided what song she would be singing.

She said: “I saw something about it on Facebook and it went from there. It was quite intimidating to do because there were 100 judges but it was enjoyable and of course I hope that something will come out of it.”

Miss McHugh added she is forming a career as a singer and currently sings and gigs at local pubs and clubs.

She added: “I have been singing for as long as I can remember but started doing it seriously when I was 17. I studied performance at Wakefield College but taught myself the rest of the time.

The programme will be shown tonight at 7.15pm.
