YOUNG visitors to Crossgates Shopping Centre had a spooktacular time during two days of Halloween-themed entertainment.

Children were able to take part in everything from face-painting and free lucky dips to arts and crafts workshops where they had the chance to make lanterns and hats.

Sophie Ratchford’s corpse bride costume won her a Halloween fancy dress competition that carried a prize of a £50 voucher to spend at the centre. The competition was judged by local councillor Pauleen Grahame, who said: “It was a real honour to be part of such a lovely community event.

“It was difficult to judge the best costume, as all of the children went to a real effort, however Sophie really stood out and was the clear winner.”
