it’s a ballet which is regarded as one of the most romantic of all time.

Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake - based on a German fairy tale - is being staged by Northern Ballet in Yorkshire.

The performances of Swan Lake at Leeds Grand Theatre and Sheffield Lyceum Theatre are being choreographed by David Nixon OBE and performed to the famous Tchaikovsky score played
live by Northern Ballet Sinfonia.

Northern Ballet commenced its Spring 2016 tour with Swan Lake opening in Leeds last night and running until March 12, followed by Sheffield from March 15 to 19.

Mr Nixon, who has been artistic director at Northern Ballet since 2001, said there was an ongoing interest by choreographers to ‘reinvent this iconic ballet and to find new meanings and adaptations’.
