Leeds rapist carried out drug fuelled sex attack on another man in his own home

A court heard the victim feared Nathan Dooley would kill him as he subjected him to an hour-long drug-fulled attack as he pleaded with him to stop.

Leeds Crown Court heard Dooley, 27, carried out the attack in May last year after initially calling at the home of the victim's neighbour.

The victim allowed Dooley into his house as the neighbour was not at home.

Rebecca Young, prosecuting, said the victim went to the kitchen to make them a cup of coffee but when he returned Dooley was naked in his bedroom

He pulled the man onto the bed and started to touch him but stopped when when the victim said it was not what he wanted.

Dooley got dressed but then attacked the victim in the living room.

Miss Young said Dooley ordered the victim not to scream and shout before subjecting him to a prolonged attack on the sofa.

Dooley left the property after the attack and told the victim not to tell anyone or he would kill him.

The victim did not initially report the incident to police.

Police were contacted when the victim went to his see his doctor and broke down in tears.

DNA and other forensic evidence was later obtained which linked Dooley to the offence.

Dooley, of Broadlea Avenue, Bramley, was interviewed and claimed he had been with his girlfriend at the time of the attack.

He pleaded guilty to rape and a serious sexual assault.

Keith Whitehouse, mitigating, said Dooley had been drinking heavily and had taken cocaine before the incident.

He said Dooley had little recollection of carrying out the attack.

Mr Whitehouse said his client had no previous convictions for sex offences and had never been to custody before.

Dooley was jailed for six years, nine months.

Judge Geoffrey Marson, QC, said: "This was a persistent and sustained attack upon this man. It must have been a painful and terrifying experience for him."

Detective Chief Inspector Dave Cowley, who heads Leeds District Safeguarding Unit, said: "Dooley was responsible for a violent and sustained sexual attack that left the victim very badly traumatised. The significant sentence he has received shows how seriously the courts will treat such offences. We hope it will provide some degree of reassurance to the victim to know Dooley has had now to answer for his actions.

"This successful conviction is the result of work by specialist safeguarding officers who have supported the victim throughout the investigation, and we would like to recognise the courage he has shown.

"I hope it will help to give other victims of similar offences the confidence to come forward knowing that we will always do everything we can to support them and see the offender brought to justice."
