Leeds pupils in pole position after Formula One factory tour
Pupils in Pudsey accelerated their learning when they were given an insight into what it takes to build and drive a 230mph Formula 1 car.
The ten Southroyd Primary School children were invited along to the F1 Williams team’s factory in Oxford by employment specialists Randstad. They were steered round the engineering hub and factory and had the speed of their reactions tested on a BATAK machine. The children were also given a chance to see previous championship winning cars and mementoes and get their hands on the trophy collection.
Freya Richardson, regional director at Randstad Public Services, said: “It’s not every day that pupils get to see a Formula 1 car up close and in the flesh and hopefully the trip will inspire them to take an interest in what it takes to work for a team like Williams. Hopefully we’ve helped to inspire the next generation of budding engineers.”
