A PUB with a history of complaints over noise from live music will find out on Tuesday if council officers will agree to extend its opening hours.
Operators of The Broadway Hotel on Dewsbury Road, Hunslet, want to extend its license 2am on Fridays and Saturdays, and open an hour earlier at 10am on Sundays. It is also applying to extend the licensed area to its new basement function room.
However, in a report to be considered by Leeds Council’s licensing sub-committee on Tuesday, Environmental Health Officer Gary Mann recommends the application is refused. His report said the venue had “a history of complaints” relating to live music. Measures to control outdoor noise such as clapping, cheering and shouting, had not worked in other areas, he said, and there was potential that nearby residents would be adversely affected.
The pub has agreed to implement conditions advised by West Yorkshire Police’s licensing department, such as CCTV and door supervision.
